1954 Willys Jeep Station Wagon (SW75)

 Offered for sale:
this lovely 1954 Willys Jeep Station Wagon (SW75).

The Willys Overland Station Wagon was first introduced in 1946 by Willys Overland Motors as the first mass-market all-steel station wagon designed and built as a passenger vehicle and is arguably the world's first popular sport utility vehicle or SUV. It was designed in the mid-40s by industrial designer Brooks Stevens and the station wagon stayed in production until 1965.

The Willys Jeep Station Wagon was purchased by the current owner in Belgium and has been in his possession since 1998.
This Station Wagon underwent a full restoration in the period between 1998-2004 and was lovingly reassembled with many genuine parts, by and under the supervision of the current owner. It has been painted in a burgundy and cream colour scheme, as the first cars to leave the production line in the 1940's. The appearance recreates the “Woodie” wagon look typically found on wagons of this era. The entire car was stripped to bare metal. The frame was sandblasted and undercoated. The body has 3 coats of primer, colour coat and high quality clear coat. The underside of the body and frame is all undercoated.

The interior is done in a matching dark red/burgundy vinyl on front and rear seats. New headliner done in grey. With the luggage area nicely done in the body colour with wood stringers. The rear bench seat can be folded down in 2 separate sections.
The original instruments are all functional.

The engine is in a superb condition and sweet running. The engine is the original Hurricane and the transmission is the original 3 speed.
Wheels have been sandblasted and powder coated/painted and carry original Firestone tyres with an original thread.

Since its restoration the car has travelled around 1000 kilo meters and has always been dry stored.
The car has been exhibited at Paleis Het Loo Concours d’ Elegance and was awarded a second price.
